School Description
General Aviation has served the community for 5 decades offering flight instruction and other aviation services maintaining the highest of standards in everything they attempt. The training aircraft is kept in an an extraordianally high state of repair by quick attention to the smallest detail. Instruction is based upon the FAA PTS with the realization that such are the MINIMUM standards with emphasis placed upon a much higher level of anticipation and achievement.
Staff Qualification
Richard N. Bailey, CFII learned to fly from the company's founder and Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame member E. Paul Rembold way back in 1972. Since that time he has through the company earned the Commercial Certificate (1983), Instrument Rating (1983), CFI (1984, CFII(1984, and ME (1985).
For many years he has maintained and flown from his own grass airstrip located north of KDAN.
A former professional educator with the local schools, he holds a BS in Education from Virgina Tech and a Masters of Educatin from UVA.
Teaching for him is almost(but not quite) as much of a joy as flying is itself.
More About Us
GA is NOT a pilot factory processing people and paper into pilots. At this company, the first objective is to establish a friendship with the customer that typcially lasts far beyond the moment. The objectives throughout are to maximize safety, confidence, and qualifications for those seeking same. General Avation is in the PEOPLE business as well or even more so than the aviation business.
