School Description
Mountain Air Services LLC provides Flight Instruction for Private Pilot Certificates and Biennial Flight Reviews at the Upshur County Regional Airport located in Buckhannon, WV just off of Rt. 33. We believe firmly that earning a pilots certificate should be a customized experience and we are committed to designing your instruction with your interests and future plans in mind without compromising the federal standards that govern aviation. Scheduling of flight time is accomplished between you and your instructor and is designed to fit into your life. You will enjoy learning in a friendly, no pressure environment with experienced flight instructors and among a large group of peers also pursuing their dreams in aviation. You will also have the opportunity to learn from pilots that use aviation in their everyday careers and pastimes to get practical answers to everyday questions. In addition, we offer an introductory flight lesson for the individual that wants to check out this thing called flying without having to make any kind of commitment. The special rate for the introductory lesson is $39 for a 30-minute flight that is tailored to the specific interests of the student. This option also makes a great gift certificate for someone you know who has always talked about aviation but never really had a chance to pursue it.

Staff Qualification
Mike McWhorter: Mike created Mountain Air Services LLC in 2001 and has a great passion for flying. He obtained his Private Pilots License in 1989 in Winchester, VA while working as a State Forester in Berkley Co. WV. In 1992 he purchased an interest in and operated a Piper Warrior for personal use. In 2002 he began training on an Instrument rating and has since become a Commercial Airplane Multi-engine and Helicopter Pilot.
Brian Mills: Brian began flying in 2000 after working out of college for two years. He earned his Private Pilots license at the Fairmont, WV airport in just over 30 days. For the next two years he worked on obtaining Instrument, Commercial, Multiengine, and CFI ratings. Brian does most of the administration for Mountain Air Services and heads up the Aerial Photo Department. Since 2003 he has added Commercial Helicopter, Multiengine Instructor, and Flight Instructor Instrument ratings.
Joe Rose: Joe is the lifeblood of the flight school. He performs most of the student training for Private, Instrument, and Commercial Ratings. Joe has an aviation background in Helicopter flying in the Military but has added his airplane ratings in the last 4 years. He is a Commercially rated pilot with Flight Instructor, and Flight Instructor Instrument ratings. Joe is especially talented in the teaching environment, imparting years of wisdom and displaying the kind of patience that beginner pilots need.

Mountain Air Services LLC offers a full service pilot's lounge and conference facility to those visiting the Upshur County Regional Airport (W22). The facilities provide a location for flight crews to relax, check weather, and prepare for the next leg of the flight. Business's will find our conference room convenient for meetings and official business without spending time going into town. The lounge offers WIRELESS INTERNET, and a PC for flight planning purposes, as well as cable TV, a full kitchen, and overnight accommodations for those who request it.
