School Description
We are correcting the industry’s first mistake, by educating instead of training. The one thing he noticed in Aviation that hasn't changed in 20 years is the number of pilot error accidents. Don’t let yourself be trained to baby sit a GPS by an "airline academy" that has been in business for the last 20 years.
Staff Qualification
After years of working for various FBOs and as a Corporate Pilot, our founder, Kent Shilling, observed he was investing his energy building someone else's business. Now a sought after instructor with a strong reputation, Kent decided to build his own aviation business. Word of mouth among Central Kentucky Pilots for some years now is that Kent is a knowledgeable professional who teaches rather than trains in a personable yet professional manner.
One of the foremost men in the industry, Dr. Bill Bell, heads our ground school affiliate, ATUSchool.com, and teaches the classes. Dr. Bell spent some years teaching at North Dakota University, and some other years consulting with flight service businesses to make them more profitable.
Our core instructors are contract Professional Pilots dedicated to the student's success. Our additional instructors are recent graduates, willing to stay on and mentor new students.
More About Us
LEARN how to make the airplane do what you want it to do. Douglas Aviation and ATU agree that learning to fly is the busiest, most thrilling time of your life, if you are prepared. If you are not prepared, it will be the most you have ever paid for overt aggravation.
We teach students how to establish their own flight service businesses. You will take professional development courses simultaneously with your flight courses, all delivered on line, then immediately put your education to work by becoming one of our independent contractors.
