Mid Island is the leader in flight training and aircraft sales on Long Island since 1946. Our standardized training techniques along with our uniformly equipped training aircraft has produced the most confident, safest, well educated pilots in the industry. Students can train for their Private Pilot Certificate up through the Airline Transport Rating in a choice of Cessna 152’s, Cessna 172R’s, a G1000 glass cockpit 172SP or a Piper Seminole. Our new LSA's (Light Sport Aircraft) are on line at Brookhaven to train pilots for the Sport Pilot Certificate. In addition to training, Mid Island has over two dozen aircraft available for rental. In order to keep renters and pilots safe, we have developed a "Personal Limitations Checklist".

School Description
Family owned and operated flight school. We have been training pilots on Long Island since 1946. We have two facilities to meet your needs. We train in Cessna aircraft, the worlds most popular and safest aircraft. We also have an array of Light Sport aircraft.

Staff Qualification
Our chief pilot has been with the company since 1965. He is also an FAA Designated Examiner.

More About Us
Being family owned and operated, and one of the oldest flight schools in the northeast, our flight training experience is second to non. Our training standards are higher than what the FAA prescribes. That gives us the confidence that when we rent an airplane to our students, we can be assured they are the best trained and above all safest pilots in the air.

Testimonials
"You and your operation are to be complemented on the way you handle business. It is obvious that it's a family owned organization and that you are interested in the long-term aspects of your business. This is evident by such things as your honesty in explaining the real facts to a prospective student, and follows through to the kindness of your personnel and the housekeeping at your facility. I don't think you realize that you are at the top of the heap! There are very few flight schools that have their act put together as well as yours." -Hal Shevers, founder, Sporty's Pilot Shop, 2001
