Flight/Flight Instruction Experience
I am a professional flight instructor. That has been and is my career goal. My aimpoint is to assist each student on his personal quest or career path towards that ultimate goal: flight proficiency. It can be an ATP, Commercial, or Flight Instructor Certificate, or a Private Certificate. The goals and objectives may vary from person to person, but I am here to personalize and enhance your learning and flight training experience. This will streamline your learning and move you towards your "dream job" in aviation more quickly. Learning to fly in the Southern California Basin will be the an exciting, but also very challenging experience. Just pull out an LAX Terminal Area Chart (LAX TAC) and take a look. If you can navigate and communicate your way around here, you'll have no major difficulties anywhere in the country. We have an amazing variety of nearby destinations: Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, San Diego, Santa Monica, Catalina-Avalon, and many many more. Call me anytime at (714) 655-3492 to acquaint yourself with me, Don Mikami, Your Flight Instructor.

Educational Background
I was born and raised in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley of California. Living in the country among the fruit trees and vineyards puts the country into the boy. It also gave me an early love of aviation, what with all the crop dusters and private planes flying around back then. My first flight was in a Piper Cub. My best friend's dad took us up as little kids. I was hooked. I obtained my Private Certificate in 1978. Later came my Instrument Rating, Commercial Certificate (Single Engine and Multi engine Land), Ground Instructor Certificate (Basic, Advanced, and Instrument), Flight Instructor (CFI, CFII, MEI) and for fun, Aerobatic Training. I've flown in Grumman Tigers, Mooneys, Pipers, Cessnas, Beechcraft, and a multitude of other single engine aircraft, both conventional and tricycle gear. I am a member of AOPA and NAFI (Nat'l Assn of Flight Instructors), among other pilot associations. I attended the University of California at Berkeley (Genetics), UCLA (Dental Degree), USC (Masters in Education and Prosthodontics).
