I started flying in 1990 in La Grande, Oregon in a Cessna 172. After solo I moved to Germany, compliments of the U.S. Army :) I got my Private one day before going to the Gulf War (the first one) and flew on a Private ticket in Germany for several years. It was an enjoyable experience and got a chance to see many countries and meet many interesting people. I managed to get experience in various flight training areas over the years. I have seen very good schools and instruction as well as very bad ones. They are not all created equal that's for sure. But it has been a great learning experience to see the varied schools, CFI's, practices and techniques used. I particularly liked the experience I received working for ATP (Airline Transport Professionals) teaching CFI students. I am the type of person who starts at the end goal and works backwards to plan. So for every certificate and rating we begin with the PTS and backwards plan from there to keep the training on time and on budget. I do not like aimless training and lean towards very focused training with milestone achievements. I use FAA publications far more than any other and always use a syllabus. At this time I don't have access to an aircraft. If you do have access for the purpose of flight instruction (the owner of the aircraft needs to be aware what it is being used for and have the appropriate insurance)or I can instruct in your own aircraft. I look forward to meeting you! :)

Additional Comments
Choosing a flight school and/or CFI is not an easy task. Try to look at where you want to go in the end. If you want to fly for a living you will need to get all of your certificates and ratings through CFI and I suggest CFII and MEI as well. You will want to get as much multi as possible but don't go for the high powered, high cost multi-engine airplanes. When you apply for a job later it doesn't matter what the multi training is in but how much multi time you have. Try to map out a plan from the beginning with the total cost and how much multi time you will have when training is over yet still keeping the cost reasonable. It is very difficult to bridge the multi-engine gap later in many cases as you try to make the leap from instructing to your first airline or corporate job. If you need some help in this area feel free to ask. I will gladly help you out with this for no charge. It is much better to do your due diligence now and avoid costly mistakes!
